Refrigerated Air Dryer – Compressor Too Hot?
Problem: Is the compressor on your refrigerated air dryer too hot?
Possible Cause 1: Compressor and possible motor overloaded because evaporator load and corresponding suction pressure too high.
Possible Solution 1: Reduce evaporator load or replace compressor with larger size.
Possible Cause 2: Insufficient liquid in evaporator.
Possible Solution 2: Locate fault on line between condenser and thermostatic expansion valve.
Possible Cause 3: Low evaporator load
Possible Solution 3: Locate fault on line between condenser and thermostatic expansion valve.
Possible Cause 4: Suction and discharge valves leaking.
Possible Solution 4: Replace valve plate or compressor.
Possible Cause 5: Superheat too severe in heat exchanger, or in suction line accumulator.
Possible Solution 5: Omit heat exchange or possibly select smaller heat exchanger
Possible Cause 6: Condensing pressure too high
Possible Solution 6: Clean condenser. Check if condenser fan is running (AC) or if pump is working (WC). If not, replace fan/pump.
